2009 saw the inaugural run of the City to Surf Marathon. The event was a huge success boasting the largest field ever assembled in WA for a 42.2km race. 2010 will see the picturesque event return for run number two. 

The 2010 Chevron marathon is an opportunity to challenge yourself to achieve something very special, a reward for commitment and desire. Whether you are looking for the ultimate physical challenge, or the ultimate mental challenge, this event is here for you to achieve something amazing.

Course – 42.2km

The Chevron Marathon course takes in the beautiful sights of Perth, Western Australia. Runners will start in the CBD and travel along the magnificent Swan River for the first 21kms before entering Kings Park, Perth’s number one tourist attraction, with its remarkable expanses of unique bushland and tranquil parkland. Upon exit of the park it’s a 12km journey to one of Perth’s many stunning beaches of the Indian Ocean, City Beach, where the finish precinct offers a unique festival atmosphere with support from locals and participants in other events.

The Start

Start Time: 6.30am
Assemble at Esplanade Park
Participants must assemble by 6.00am

Warm ups will be conducted on Esplanade Park prior to assembly time.



Clothing Service

A free clothing service to transport runners clothing items from the start line to the finish line will be operated on race day. For full details on this service please see the Official Race Guide which will be available to download in August.

Flick Your Kit will also be back in 2010 – a service that encourages participants to wear old clothes down to the start line and donate them to charity before the commencement of their race.



On Course – Aid Stations

Water stations are located approximately every 2km along the course.

Powerade Isotonic is available to marathon runners at all aid stations on course.

Gu Energy Gel is available at intervals along the course. Refer to the course map for exact locations. (Please note: Water & Powerade Isotonic is also available at these stations).



Skins Athlete Recovery Area

Thanks to Skins we’ll again be offering a private marathon recovery area with full recovery services including nutrition, hydration, massage and much more.

All marathon finishers will have VIP access to the Skins Athlete Recovery Area.



Cut Off

There will be a 6.5 hour cut off for the Chevron Marathon.

Joel Kemboi from Kenya took out the inaugural mens CIty to Surf Marathon with an impressive time of 2:17:56 on a tough course.


Madga Karimali-Poulos from NSW won the women's event in personal best time of 2:43:17.
