WHY THE CHANGES IN 2011?
Our number one objective when looking at course design and scheduling is to ensure every participant in every event has the best possible on course experience.
For the Marathon and the Half Marathon runners, we know this means a clear run with people going at similar speeds, and clear access to aid stations on course.
We are confident this has been achieved with the above revised scheduling for 2011.
For those with concerns please note the following:
Upon exit of Kings Park there will be a lane exclusive to the Marathon and Half-Marathon participants. The lane will be physically divided so that can not be crossed by the mass field, and this lane will continue on to Thomas Street up to the Barker Road turn. From this point the Marathon and the Half-Marathon participants will be on the left hand lanes of the course right through to the finish with a physical divide from the mass 12km field the entire way.
We are also taking care of our 12km runners with varying start categories in the 12km Run. These will be enforced by mustering all participants on the Esplanade.
