ANSWERS

Q: What is the Marathon cut off time?

A: All marathon runners must complete the course in 6.5 hours. Intermediate cut of times are also applicable in the Marathon &  Half Marathon. See the individual event pages for full details.

Q: Will I be impeded by participants running other distances?

A: No. There is minimal to no crossover of participants in different distances and as such all participants in all distances will get a clear run on course. Marathon and Half Marathon participants will keep left through the course and finish on the north bound lanes of West Coast Highway, 12km Run, 12km Walk and 4km Walk/Run participants will keep right and will finish on the south bound lanes of West Coast Highway. There will be a physical divide (median strip or barrier) of these distances in place at almost every point on course.

Q: Can I participate with a baby in a pram?

A: Prams/strollers are permitted in the 12km Run, however you must enter into Wave 3, 95+ minutes category.
Prams/strollers are also permitted in the 12km Walk and 4km Walk/Run.

PARTICIPANTS PUSHING PRAMS MUST START AT THE REAR OF THE FIELD IN THEIR RESPECTIVE DISTANCES.
If the child is being pushed in a pram but does not wish to receive the finisher's rewards they are not required to register an official entry.

Q: Can I participate with an iPod/mp3 player?

A: iPods and mp3 players are allowed on course however we advise against their use. If you are using an iPod or mp3 on course please adhere to the following etiquette guidelines:
- Volume must be kept low so as not to cause offence or disturbance to other participants.
- Volume must be kept low so you can hear instructions and directions given by race officials, course marshals and emergency services personnel.
-iPod/mp3 player must not be turned on until after the start of your distance so that you can hear all instructions and announcements given at the start line.
- You must remain aware of your surroundings at all times, pay particular attention to lead and emergency vehicles and show courtesy to all other participants.

Q: Can I ride my bike or skateboard?

A: No. The use of bicycles, skateboards, roller blades/skates or any other similar mode of transport is not permitted for any distance with the exception of wheelchairs in the 4km Wheelchair.

Q: Can I walk in the Marathon?

A: No, there are strict cut off times for the Marathon which will not be met by those walking from the outset.
Intermediate cut off times will be strictly inforced.

Q: What are the average temperatures on race day?

A: The table below shows the temperatures recorded on Event Day for the City to Surf over the last five years.

In 2011 we aim to provide participants with a better all round experience. The changes are minor and we hope they will be very well recieved.

All participants in the Marathon, Half Marathon, 12km Run and 12km Walk will again be required to assemble on Esplanade Park.

****Participants will not be permitted to assemble on St Georges Terrace until marshaled to the start line by race officials****

A CLEAR RUN…

The assembly area on Esplanade Park provides the following benefits to all participants:
- better policing of participants starting in their correct start group (I.e. fast runners with fast runners)
- better policing of participants with prams or pushing strollers to start at the rear of the field
- improved event services
- additional toilet facilities to assist growing crowds

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please be aware that due to the inclusion of the full marathon, road closures in the City of Perth will be greater than in previous years. We strongly recommend taking advantage of the free train services, provided by Transperth, to travel to the start precinct. If you are driving or dropping off participants please be sure to look at the Start Precinct map for recommended drop off points. This will be available in the Event Guide in August 2011.
