Welcome to the 2009 Perth City to Surf. We know a lot of you are already thinking about your preparation so we'll be sending you key event information through these newsletters to help you set your goals and stay focused on 2009 being the year to achieve them.
We've got a new look, new sponsors, new promotions, we're adding a new event, and are looking forward to the 2009 Perth City to Surf being the biggest and best year yet. So get training now for the last Sunday in August!

A World-Class event We're delighted to announce the inclusion of a full marathon in to the 2009 Perth City to Surf event program. Plans have been in the works for a number of years and in 2009 the inaugural event will run. The course will take participants on a tour of some of Perth's most beautiful scenery in a 42.2km path from the City to the Surf. Participating in a marathon is a singular experience. It's a physical battle, a mental battle and offers a unique sense of accomplishment for participants when they cross the finish line. Plans are to assemble an impressive elite field to lead the pack but we encourage recreational runners to take on the challenge and achieve something amazing in 2009!

As well as the excitement of the Marathon, the Perth City to Surf will still include all the usual events that the Perth community has grown to look forward to every year!

Activ Activ has owned, hosted and been the beneficiary of the City to Surf since 1975. Activ, one of Western Australia's leading community benefit organisations, has provided services and support to people with disability since 1951. Activ provides accommodation, recreation, respite, employment and skills development training (People, Skills & Community) to 2,300 people with disability and their families. It employs more than 1,000 staff and more than 1,000 people with disability. Funds raised by the City to Surf will help Activ continue its mission to create a better life for people with disability.

The Perth City to Surf are recruiting event day volunteers NOW! There are a variety of roles for individuals or groups. Volunteering is a wonderfully rewarding experience and it's a great way to be involved in this fantastic community event. Click on the link below for more information.
