Listen to Nathan, Nat & Shaun 6am-9am weekdays.

The iconic 12km run will be the event to watch this year with last year’s winner Alan Craigie competing against Sydney Olympic Steeplechase Gold medalist, Reuben Kosgei.

Canberra based runner Mr Craigie, 27, who specialises in 5000m events, completed the 12km course last year in an impressive time of 0.36.56, beating Australian cross country champion Ethan Heywood.

Kenyan athlete Reuben Kosgei, 32, will be completing the 12km race after coming third in the marathon event at last year’s City to Surf for Activ.

The 12km event is closer to the self coached athlete’s area of expertise being the 3000m steeplechase in which he won gold at the 2000 Olympics and bronze at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Mr Kosgei has travelled the world as an athlete to compete in a range of events including the 2009 Vienna Marathon, 2001 Brussles Steeplechase, 2001 Canada World Championships for Steeplechase and the 2009 Sydney City2Surf Half Marathon.
